Experience: Highlighting! Revlon Frost and Glow

Okay!

So this weekend, I had a NEW experience~ I got to highlight my friend's hair, eee!! I have dyed before, but never HIGHLIGHTED. It was so exciting!

Here is the kit we used:

Revlon Frost and Glow

It's like most dyes where you mix together the dye, but this one you put in the little box it comes with~

But first! You use the cap and crochet-like needle to pull the hair to highlight through the cap, ah! Once I got the hang of it, it actually was pretty quick. And you know, I can't even really explain HOW to do it, but I could show if anyone ever needs help, lol!

Instructions for how to use the cap for what effect you want. Hehe doesn't she look so happy?

I think you can gather from the illustration what the cap looks like.
So here is a picture once her hair was pulled through the cap~

She pulled the rest of her hair in a ponytail to keep it out of the way. You then apply the dye with a little spatula like tool (included) and then pile the hair on top and put this other loose cap on, to make sure you don't lean on anything with the dye, I suppose lol.

Ok so I'm a bad reviewer and forgot to take a BEFORE picture, so here is the most recent one I could creep on Facebook with her hair straight =):

After!:

ISN'T IT GORGEOUS?!
I was really super impressed with this kit! There weren't any chunks and the color is even and beautiful-- nice job, Revlon!

Makes me want to dye my hair!!!!

Have you ever used at-home dye or highlighting kits before? Tell me stories!!

Until next time~

  1. I actually refuse to permanently dye my hair because I get so many compliments on the color and how thick it is! But I love semi-permanently dyeing my hair dark purple, I actually have it like that now :) It sounds weird, but it mostly looks black indoors and really purple in the sunshine, but it is hard to get a good picture of it! This is the best picture I have of showing the purple and you can't really see it still: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs278.snc1/10535_559402386465_49402046_33025733_3071093_n.jpg It is a lot of fun but GOSH the color gets everywhere because it only lasts about 2 weeks and washes out a little with every wash. Needless to say, my shower is completely purple! Have you ever had the urge to do some crazy color? Purple is my favorite color so I do purple everything :P

  3. Emily! I thought I had replied!! I'm so sorry!
Your pic is GORGEOUS-- I see the purple! It definitely adds come fun color without being too "in your face"~ such a neat idea!
I actually have been tempted at times to add just a few streaks of purple or red, but I'm so anal about things matching that I think, "Oh, but red wouldn't go with my purple top, ee!" and steered away, lol.
Once upon a time, in about 6th-7th grade, I used red LIPSTICK to paint color on my hair, hahaha!! It came out easily, thank goodness!! And I tried an orange 7-washes thing, but it really didn't do much. And of course, my recent red hair fiasco, hahaha.
I should probably stop playing, but it's so much fun! =D Luckily my natural color is that darkblonde/lightbrown color so it's not too hard to lighten/darken (since I don't have to stay on top of my roots too badly).
BTW your hair is GORGEOUS. Never bleach it or cut it short, lol! ;)
