CABOODLE!!
A friend mentioned to me that I should do a "What should I have to start my own Caboodle?"
So I thought I'd share my thoughts, and include a handy list at the end.
A GREAT Caboodle is one that looks like this-- not that I'm biased ;) -- and will run about $30:
Ok! First off, you HAVE to start off with a clean and moisturized face. A good cleanser is Neutrogena's Deep Clean Oil-Free Cream Cleanser (around $6) and Olay's Complete All-day Moisturizer (around $9) specified for your skin type. These don't need to be stashed in the Caboodle, but there is no point in spending money on make-up if you don't properly cleanse/moisturize your face.
As for eyeshadows, you need a good neutral palette, a fun one catered to your eye color, and one for smoky eyes. For Neutral, a nice one is NYX's trio in Dune (around $8). CoverGirl's Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadow (in your shade) are lovely pairings of colors to bring out your eye color (around $8). And hands down the best deal for your smoky eye is el.f.'s Color 101 in Smoky Eye-- you get 4 shadows, a brush, eyeliner, eyelash curler, and mascara for $5!! (Might be found at Target)
For eyeliner, it's about the same-- you need a nice brown, a black, and a fun color for your eyes. To knock it out in one go, check out Physicians Formula's Shimmer Strip Eyeliner Trio, $11-- and if it doesn't include a brown, check out Almay's~ they go on smooth and stay put.
Mascara!! Okay, so mascara is tricky, but for a great mascara, reach for L'Oreal's Voluminous, around $8, in Black.
Okay!! Now for the FACE-- I've had success with Maybelline's new FIT line, so I'd get 2 foundations (one your current skin tone, and one darker, since most people get darker in the summer, and you can mix to get a perfect match), a powder, and a concealer.
As far as blush, L'Oreal's True Match in Innocent Flush (around $10) is likely to flatter most skin tones.
And a great bronzer is Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Blends Natural Radiance Bronzer in your appropriate shade, around $12.
Lips! Every gal needs an everyday, a pinkish, and a red. Add more if you like! Obviously you will need to try out colors to see what works for you, but I'll tell you that my all time favorite is Dr. Pepper Chapstick. Old school, but I LOVE it!
You also need some good BRUSHES-- Go out and get Ecotools 5-piece kit ($17) and also the Bronzer brush ($12)-- it's so soft!! The kit includes a blush/powder brush, angeled eyeliner, concealer, eyeshadow, and lash and brow groomer, all with a nice little holder!
You might also want to stash some Q-tips, makeup remover, and a small towel, as space allows.
