Weekend Project!!

Actually, this might take a bit, depending on your income, haha.

CABOODLE!!

A friend mentioned to me that I should do a "What should I have to start my own Caboodle?"
So I thought I'd share my thoughts, and include a handy list at the end.

A GREAT Caboodle is one that looks like this-- not that I'm biased ;) -- and will run about $30:

Ok! First off, you HAVE to start off with a clean and moisturized face. A good cleanser is Neutrogena's Deep Clean Oil-Free Cream Cleanser (around $6) and Olay's Complete All-day Moisturizer (around $9) specified for your skin type. These don't need to be stashed in the Caboodle, but there is no point in spending money on make-up if you don't properly cleanse/moisturize your face.

Next you need a good eye primer-- I strongly suggest Mary Kay's Triple Eye Primer, $12

As for eyeshadows, you need a good neutral palette, a fun one catered to your eye color, and one for smoky eyes. For Neutral, a nice one is NYX's trio in Dune (around $8). CoverGirl's Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadow (in your shade) are lovely pairings of colors to bring out your eye color (around $8). And hands down the best deal for your smoky eye is el.f.'s Color 101 in Smoky Eye-- you get 4 shadows, a brush, eyeliner, eyelash curler, and mascara for $5!! (Might be found at Target)

For eyeliner, it's about the same-- you need a nice brown, a black, and a fun color for your eyes. To knock it out in one go, check out Physicians Formula's Shimmer Strip Eyeliner Trio, $11-- and if it doesn't include a brown, check out Almay's~ they go on smooth and stay put.

Mascara!! Okay, so mascara is tricky, but for a great mascara, reach for L'Oreal's Voluminous, around $8, in Black.

Okay!! Now for the FACE-- I've had success with Maybelline's new FIT line, so I'd get 2 foundations (one your current skin tone, and one darker, since most people get darker in the summer, and you can mix to get a perfect match), a powder, and a concealer.

As far as blush, L'Oreal's True Match in Innocent Flush (around $10) is likely to flatter most skin tones.

And a great bronzer is Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Blends Natural Radiance Bronzer in your appropriate shade, around $12.

Lips! Every gal needs an everyday, a pinkish, and a red. Add more if you like! Obviously you will need to try out colors to see what works for you, but I'll tell you that my all time favorite is Dr. Pepper Chapstick. Old school, but I LOVE it!

You also need some good BRUSHES-- Go out and get Ecotools 5-piece kit ($17) and also the Bronzer brush ($12)-- it's so soft!! The kit includes a blush/powder brush, angeled eyeliner, concealer, eyeshadow, and lash and brow groomer, all with a nice little holder!

You might also want to stash some Q-tips, makeup remover, and a small towel, as space allows.

Le List!
- Caboodle
- Cleanser
- Moisturizer
- Eye Primer
- Eyeshadows: 1. Neutral, 2. For your eye color, 3. Smoky
- Eyeliners: 1. Brown, 2. Black, 3. For your eye color
- Mascara
- Foundation, concealer, powder
- Blush
- Bronzer
- Lip colors, as you see fit
- Brushes, including a bronzer brush
- Q-tips, cotton balls, makeup remover, etc.

Hmmmm I think that covers the basics, haha! What do you think? Anything to add??

Have a great weekend, all!

Until next time--

"Whoever told her Orange was the new Pink was seriously disturbed."

... Or were they? ;)

Yesterday I showed you some pictures of orangey lips/cheeks/eyes from the celeb world-- but how do these translate to everyday life?

I dug around in my Caboodle to find the products I already own which are closest to orange. Let's take a look at what I found!!

For lips: Revlon's Colorburst Lipgloss in Papaya (review to come!)

For cheeks: Maybelline's Expert Wear Blush in Apricot Flush

No blush~

With blush~

For eyes: Shades from e.l.f.'s 100 shadow palette

A nice, warm tone~

I added a little bit of purple, just for fun!

I think the "Orange" look is definitely doable for real life! And, I think it would actually work on any eye color-- it looks stunning with blue, as in my previous post, but I think it also looks nice with green, and it would compliment brown nicely, too! I think the key is to blend it, and have a nice neutral color in the crease, so it's just a hint of orange.

The cheeks look so youthful and fresh! I adore peachy-orangey-coral on the cheek! Just make sure it's the right tone for you, otherwise it can be quite scary...

And for the lips? Go for it!! A sheer formula will ease you into the idea of a bright lip. ;)

What do you think? I'd really like to hear your opinion!! Comment or email at beautymaven8@gmail.com OR Tweet me @BeautyMaven8!!

What's New/Want It! Wednesday-- A Shady Lady with Punchy Lips!

Hey there!

Sorry for the late post... I'm not even going to put an excuse, but rather go on with the post! =)

Unless you're living under a rock you've probably noticed that orange is IN for the season~ Cheek colors, lips, eyeshadows... Yes- eyeshadow.

Let's take a look!

January Jones with gorgeous orange lipstick!

Bilson with peachy cheeks

Orange eyes at Derek Lam

The orange eye color was created by using a lip pencil from Estee Lauder--
However, they are coming out with the color as a shadow and also a lipgloss for their Orange Crush collection.

Ooh la la!

If you can't tell, I am LOVING some COLOR right now. =D
((Hint: Check tomorrow for my first try with orange...))

Also new is Stila's Garden Bliss set, $32 on Stila's website.
Glamourize Mascara, Lip Glaze in Guava, and Garden Palette: 4 eyeshadows and a Cheek Powder

This is a lovely set for Spring! That blush alone is enough to peak my interest~

Speaking of Spring color! Chanel has pictures of their 3 Spring nail colors:
Mimosa, Beige Petale, and Morning Rose

I think that Mimosa is a gorgeous yellow in general, but I'm not so sure on nails? What do you all think?

And for good measure, a nice gloss!! Bath and Body Works has their very own "mood-gloss" dubbed "Tasty Lip Color: Best Kiss." $8 at stores~
Can't wait to try it!!

So those are a few things that have caught my eye recently. What are you investigating???

Until next time--

No worries!!

Sorry for the delay in posts!! Be assured, a new one will be up later today. =)

Mascara Monday-- Fresh Cosmetics Supernova and Firebird Mascaras

Hello world!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend-- did anyone try out the bright lips from Friday??

For your mascara review today I have TWO mascaras from Fresh, Supernova and Firebird:
I got these in a little sample duo from Sephora for $10.

Supernova and Firebird

Supernova Mascara, $25 at Sephora.
What it claims: An ultra-conditioning mascara that creates dramatic, diva-worthy lashes in one swipe. The formula is enriched with nourishing meadow foam seed oil to condition lashes and add shine, protective linden extract to strengthen, and fortifying panthenol to prevent breakage. The rich formula thickens, lengthens, and defines lashes in just one super-glossy, jet black coat.

Bare Lashes

Firebird Mascara-- unfortunately not offered at Sephora anymore. =(
It is supposed to create a "Feathery effect to the lashes."

I decided to try layering Supernova OVER Firebird to see what the effect would be~

I really like these mascaras!!
Supernova a really glossy, lengthening and volumizing mascara without any clumps. It's not super dramatic, but it's perfect for day wear and layers well for evening.
Firebird is amazing with length-- I'm kind of sad it's not available because this duo looked fantastic! Flurry, full and long lashes... what everyone wants, right?

To get a similar effect, layer a volumizing mascara OVER a lenthening--- a great budget lengthening mascara is Cover Girl's LashBlast Length (yellow tube).

What mascara are you using now?? Any that you're lusting for?

Until next time--
